So you don’t have to, I tried McDonald’s Grandma McFlurry. My Review Is Here.
Are you saying that a grandmother prepared this McFlurry?
The “Grandma McFlurry,” McDonald’s newest limited-edition treat, went on sale on Tuesday. You’re not the only one who finds the name confusing. I’ve just consumed it, so I’m still not entirely sure what’s in it. The names of some of McDonald’s McFlurry creations, like the iconic Oreo and M&M McFlurry, are rather self-explanatory, but naming a McFlurry after the matriarch of the family requires some justification.”A delicious syrup and chopped, crunchy candy pieces (like grandma’s favorite thing she hid in her purse!) mixed with vanilla soft-serve ice cream,” reads the description of the dessert in a news release. Each grandma seems to have had various sweets, in my opinion. My aunt sister used to always give me licorice; where is my licorice McFlurry, I wonder? However, it’s evident from the photos that this dish is modeled around Werther’s Original butterscotch hard candies. It’s fair to say that candies have grandma’s approval.
I love those little butterscotch disks; call me granny. So even though I didn’t really understand the pitch, I was nevertheless excited about this dessert. While I do not advocate for not honoring grandmother on a daily basis, September happens to be National Grandparents Day.
Furthermore, I’m fairly certain my grandmother has never had a McFlurry.
The fact that the machines creating McDonald’s new McFlurry marketing are frequently “broken” is what makes it the funniest. In fact, it has happened so frequently that it has sparked government inquiries and conspiracy theories. As a specialist in fast food, I venture to assume that McDonald’s staff members are averse to creating labor-intensive desserts. You could hear the same thing if you order a milkshake for dinner at midnight. As an aside, avoid ordering a milkshake for supper around midnight.
So I was relieved that the woman at the drive-thru window didn’t turn me down when I requested the Grandma McFlurry on Tuesday.
The machine was operational, and the new dessert is presented in a unique pink cup featuring the McDonald’s emblem stitched on it along with the scripted words “xoxo, Grandma.” Great branding.
However, what flavor does it have? The flavor of butterscotch was evident right away. I enjoy butterscotch, but your mileage may vary. It was really strong, but it’s hard to make a flavor as strong as butterscotch not be overpowering.
The problem wasn’t the flavor. Its texture was. Although the ice cream contained some amber chunks of butterscotch candy, the main addition resembled the pie crust pieces that some ice cream businesses employ to give their milkshakes and sundaes a pie-like texture. They were more of a gritty texture rather than being overly mushy or crunchy. Not very enjoyable.
Pie chunks are not as appealing as butterscotch candy pieces. They were quite tasty! Additionally delicious and pervasive throughout the cup was the butterscotch syrup that was blended with the ice cream.
Is this my preferred McFlurry? Without a doubt not. Above all, it makes me hope that McDonald’s would bring us one of the McFlurries that are sold abroad. Canada is home to the McFlurry caramel popcorn! Europe had a McFlurry with Cadbury Cream! Grandma McFlurry is here. Nice.
I believe I should contact my grandmother now, if you will pardon me. Perhaps she’s craving a McFlurry.
