The cancellation of the 2024 Providence Marathon and Half Marathon is the result of several unanticipated issues, such as the Washington Bridge closure.
A statement on the Providence Marathon website was released by the organizers to announce the cancellation. Among other things, they said that the Washington Bridge shutdown was a major hindrance.
The marathon was originally scheduled on May 5.
Since the organizers were unable to locate a suitable alternate route for the marathon, safety concerns were also voiced.
