It’s not always possible to hide behind a screen!” – How the late, great Hans Zimmer was encouraged to embark on a tour by Pharrell Williams and Johnny Marr.
This is the first North American tour of this acclaimed composer in seven years. Hans Zimmer was persuaded to take this adventure by an unlikely pair: Pharrell Williams and Johnny Marr.
They stated that this relationship “completely compelled” them to embark on a North American tour, as reported by the Associated Press. They quoted them as saying, “You can’t constantly hide behind the screen; you have to see your audience’s eyes. Your audience is entitled to it. They acknowledge you for it.” They went on to say that America was “incredibly welcoming, generous, and exciting” and that it had helped them because they had visited Europe multiple times and were so well experienced in the field. Right now, it’s good.
After writing the music for Dune 1 and 2, the German composer made the announcement of his first tour in seven years: a North American orchestra tour Tuesday, March 14. Zimmer and his band will be performing with a full orchestra on this tour, which will include suites. In addition to Dune, other films in the repertory are Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, and Interstellar.
“I’m thrilled to be back in North America performing with my amazing band and sharing this unprecedented show,” Zimmer said of the tour. I adore the sensation of bringing you, the audience, together with my amazing family of musicians. These are, in my opinion, some of the greatest musicians in the world—a very amazing group of people.”
“But yours, the other half of the family—nothing matters without the generosity and encouragement of the audience. In the end, music unites us all, and I can assure you that we will always perform to the best of our abilities, directly from the heart. It concludes one month later in Vancouver after beginning in Duluth, Georgia, on September 6. On September 12, which is also my 67th birthday, we’ll perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City.”
