Mandisa, a Grammy-winning vocalist and former “American Idol” competitor, died at the age of 47.
Tennessee’s Nashville Mandisa, a Grammy Award-winning contemporary Christian singer who debuted on “American Idol” and released the album “Overcomer” in 2013, was sadly lost to death. Her age was forty-seven years.
The Associated Press was informed by the singer’s representative that Mandisa was discovered dead in her Nashville, Tennessee, home on Thursday. According to the spokesman, Mandisa’s death’s cause is still a mystery.
Mandisa Lynn Hundley, whose full name was Mandisa Lynn, was born in the Sacramento area of California. She became well-known for her church singing. She became well-known after placing ninth on “American Idol” in 2006.
Ryan Seacrest, the host, praised the singer immediately after she left, calling her “a great soul on the show.”
Following the release of her debut album “True Beauty” in 2007, Mandisa was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album.

She took home the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album Grammy in 2014 for her fifth album, “Overcomer.”
Mandisa was transparent about her battles with depression. She published a memoir in 2022 called “Out of the Dark: My Journey Through the Shadows to Find God’s Joy” that included details on her faith, the coronavirus epidemic, difficulties she faced with weight, and severe melancholy.
The Christian Radio Network’s Love honored the singer on social media on Friday, sharing on her challenges: “Mandisa struggled, and she was so vulnerable that she shared it with us, which helped us talk about our struggles.”
